The Conclave rendered a decision, and relatively quickly, to elect Robert Francis Prevost as Pope. The first American to hold the title has taken on the name Pope Leo XIV, but who is he and why was he chosen among the 135 Cardinals at the Vatican, the vast majority of whom were installed by Pope Francis? President Trump hailed the new Pope on social media, but Leo XIV, but Prevost has been critical of Trump's policies for nearly a decade.
