The research group of scientist Yigang Tong at the CCP Laboratory of Pathogen and Biosecurity, Beijing Institute of Microbiology and Epidemiology, have published a paper showing a coronavirus variant that is 100% fatal in mice re-engineered to carry the human ACE-2 receptor. The ACE-2 receptor in humans is the door through which COVID-19 enters the human pulminary and cardiovascular systems.
